The aircraft maintenance procedures and safety measures are performed on the tarmac before a flight - a detailed montage.

I was not able to take a flight in the T-33 because of the specific requirements and security limitations so I decided to create a story told from a pilot and his ground crew’s points of view. I wanted to illustrate the preparations that the pilot would make, and the care that the technicians and crew make in preparing and securing a safe flight before take off.

It seemed to me that Cold Lake base is truly a world unto itself. Without the influences of any major city in proximity, it was a fascinating look into the world of the Canadian air force in terms of the structure and command, AETE’s purpose, the discipline, the cleanliness, the austerity, the comradery, attention to fitness, and the fact that this T-33 aircraft’s time was coming to an end. This gave the ceremonies a somber and reflective tone.
